Switching to Monzo: personal, joint and business accounts

Some links on this page are referral links. If you use them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never affects how we rate products. How we make money

Important: This guide provides general information, not personalised financial advice. Financial products, rates and eligibility rules can change, so check the provider’s current terms before applying. Some links are referral links — we may earn a commission. Quick answer

Monzo supports the Current Account Switch Service for personal, joint and business accounts. You start it in the app (Home, the three dots on your account, then “Switch to Monzo”), and Monzo moves your money and payments and closes the old account.

Third-party apps that had access to your old account won’t move across automatically — you’ll need to reconnect them.

Who it’s for

  • People making Monzo their main account
  • Sole traders and companies moving a business account to Monzo Business

Who should skip it

These are general points to weigh up, not advice. You may want to look elsewhere if:

  • You want a switch bonus — we didn’t see one from Monzo on 3 October 2026
  • You want to keep your old account open

The catch

Make a list of open banking connections and card-on-file payments before switching. CASS moves Direct Debits and standing orders, not card subscriptions.

Open a Monzo account first, then switch in the app.
