Complaints and Corrections
Last updated: .
We want our guides to be accurate and fair. If something looks wrong — or you want to raise a concern about a page — here is how to get in touch and what happens next.
How to report an error or raise a complaint
Email us at hello@thefinancelowdown.co.uk, or use our Contact page.
Please put a short subject line such as “Correction” or “Complaint” so we can spot it quickly.
What information helps
The more specific you can be, the faster we can check. Useful details include:
- The page URL (or the exact title of the article)
- What looks wrong — the sentence, figure, date or claim
- A suggested correction, if you have one, plus a link to a reliable source (for example the provider page or GOV.UK)
- Your name and a reply email if you want a response
You do not need a formal letter. A clear email is enough.
How we aim to respond
We read every correction and complaint message we receive about site content.
- We aim to acknowledge messages within a few working days where we can.
- If the point is factual and we agree, we update the page as soon as reasonably practical.
- If we need more time to check sources, we will say so when we reply.
- If we disagree after checking, we will explain our reasoning briefly.
We cannot promise a fixed turnaround for every case — some checks need more care than others — but we treat accuracy as a priority.
Corrections vs opinions
Corrections are about facts: wrong rates, outdated rules, misstated product features, broken descriptions of how something works.
Opinions and emphasis — for example how strongly we highlight a limitation — are editorial judgements. We listen to feedback on tone and balance, but disagreeing with our framing is not the same as an error of fact.
How we research and compare products is set out in our Editorial Policy and Review Methodology.
About The Finance Lowdown — and product complaints
The Finance Lowdown publishes general information about UK money topics. We are not a regulated financial advice firm, and we do not provide personalised financial advice.
If your complaint is about a product, account, service or provider (for example a bank, insurer or cashback site), you should raise it with that provider first, using their own complaints process. If you remain unhappy and the firm is covered, you may be able to refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service — check eligibility and time limits on the Ombudsman’s own website.
We can look at whether our page described something incorrectly. We cannot investigate or settle a dispute between you and a financial provider.
Concerns about commercial links
Some pages include referral links. This site may contain referral links which help support our work. How those links work — and what they do not change for you — is explained on our Disclosure page and How We Make Money.
If you believe a commercial relationship has skewed a page, tell us which URL and what you think is unfair. We will review it against our editorial standards.
