Business bank accounts with cashback: what’s actually available

Important: This guide provides general information, not personalised financial advice. Financial products, rates and eligibility rules can change, so check the provider’s current terms before applying. You can check a firm’s details on the FCA Register.

FSCS protects eligible deposits up to £120,000 per person, per authorised institution.

Quick answer

Straight cashback on everyday spending is rare on UK business current accounts. What you’ll more often find is partner discounts, one-off switching or opening incentives, or cashback on a linked business credit card.

Our pick if cashback on spending is the goal: look at a business credit card instead — Barclaycard’s Select Cashback card pays 1% in months you spend £2,000 or more, and Capital on Tap pays 1% on card spending (limited companies only). Our pick for partner offers on an account: ANNA advertises cashback on selected partner products.

Who it’s for

  • Businesses spending a steady amount each month on cards
  • Owners comparing accounts that throw in extras
  • Switchers weighing up opening incentives
  • Anyone wondering why “cashback business account” searches turn up cards

Who should skip it

These are general points to weigh up, not advice. You may want to look elsewhere if:

  • You’d choose an account mainly for cashback — fees and features usually matter more
  • You carry a balance on cards — interest quickly outweighs 1% cashback
  • Your spending is too low to clear any minimum spend thresholds
  • You need guaranteed rewards — partner offers change

Full explanation

Why accounts rarely pay cashback

Business debit card interchange is lower than credit card interchange, so there’s less margin for providers to share. That’s why most cashback in the business world sits on credit cards rather than current accounts.

Making cashback work

Cashback only adds value if you clear your card balance in full each month. A 1% reward disappears quickly if you pay interest. Our Credit card repayment calculator shows how long a balance takes to clear.

Look at the account first

Choose your account on fees, protection and features, then add a cashback card if your spending suits it. See Business bank accounts compared and Business accounts with no monthly fee.

The catch

Account “cashback” is usually partner offers. ANNA advertises up to 40% cashback on selected partner products and services — that applies to specific partners, not all your spending.

Incentives are time-limited. Santander currently advertises a £200 gift card and 6 months of Xero for its Classic account (T&Cs and eligibility apply).

Card cashback has conditions. Barclaycard Select Cashback pays 1% only in statement months where you spend £2,000 or more.
